"The series of activities will also be filled with Prayers with the Religious Communication Forum as a form of gratitude and collective reflection on Jakarta's journey for almost five centuries," she explained.
Eli added that, as Jakarta approaches its fifth century, this year's commemoration is an important opportunity to reflect on Jakarta's long journey and reaffirm its commitment to realizing an inclusive, competitive, and sustainable global city.
"Jakarta's 499th anniversary is not just an annual celebration, but a reflection of the city's development achievements, which have continued to evolve over time. The theme "Towards 5 Centuries of Jakarta" reflects Jakarta's optimism and readiness to enter a new chapter as a modern, sustainable global city capable of providing an increasingly better quality of life for all its residents," she added.
The Jakarta Provincial Government aims to create public spaces that are not only visually appealing but also able to convey messages about the importance of protecting the environment, strengthening creativity, and building a more sustainable city.
The spirit of collaboration is a key foundation in Jakarta's journey toward its fifth century. Therefore, various elements of society will be involved in celebrations featuring cultural collaborations, entertainment, and urban innovation.
Eli also hopes that the celebration of Jakarta's 499th anniversary can be a positive energy for all residents to continue contributing to the city's development.
"We invite all people to make this momentum a joint step to realize a Jakarta that is increasingly advanced, harmonious, resilient, and makes us proud at the global level," she appealed.
